Precision Aluminum Cutting Services in Ontario

Aluminum laser cutting from 22 gauge sheet through 3/4 inch plate, serving automotive, signage, and transport clients out of our Brampton, ON facility. Dependable Laser Works is a trusted aluminum fabricator offering aluminum cutting services for 6061 and 5052 alloys across the full range of gauges used in lightweight and corrosion-resistant applications. Whether you need a single prototype panel or a full production run, our fibre laser system delivers clean, repeatable results on every aluminum sheet.

Where Aluminum Outperforms Steel and Stainless

Aluminum weighs roughly a third of steel by volume, which is why it shows up wherever weight, handling cost, or fuel efficiency are part of the equation. Its natural oxide layer also gives untreated aluminum alloy parts a level of corrosion resistance that bare steel simply does not have.

Our shop stocks general-purpose stock for everyday parts, plus marine grade aluminum for components that will see saltwater or sustained outdoor exposure. We also carry aluminum plates up to 3/4 inch for heavier, load-bearing components.

Tell us the application and environment, and we will help you land on the right alloy and thickness before your file goes near the laser.

Understanding Aluminum Gauge, Alloy, and Temper

Aluminum sheet is measured on the Brown and Sharpe gauge system, not the Manufacturers’ Standard Gauge used for steel, so a given aluminum gauge thickness is not interchangeable with the same gauge number in steel.

Getting aluminum sheet gauge right at the quoting stage, alongside the correct alloy from our range of aluminum grades and the right temper, prevents costly mismatches once a part reaches the shop floor.

Thin Gauge for Weight-Sensitive Parts

Sheet starting at 22 gauge suits signage faces, enclosures, and panels where minimizing weight and material cost is the priority.

Mid-Range Stock for General Fabrication

Most everyday parts fall in the mid-range, where our aluminum sheet thickness options balance rigidity against ease of forming.

Plate for Structural and Load-Bearing Work

Once material gets thick enough, it is specified by decimal or fractional inch rather than gauge number. Our range runs up to 3/4 inch aluminum plate, so heavier structural aluminum components stay in-house.

Alloy and Temper Matched to the Job

Gauge tells you thickness, not strength. Alloy and temper designation, such as 6061-T6 or 5052-H32, determine how a part performs once it's cut, bent, or welded.

How We Cut a Reflective Metal Without Compromising Quality

Aluminum cutting is not simply steel cutting with a different material loaded. Reflective, high-conductivity metal behaves differently under a laser, and a system tuned around steel will produce inconsistent results on it.

01

Settings Built for Reflective Material

Our fibre laser is calibrated specifically for aluminum sheet metal, controlling for the higher reflectivity and thermal conductivity that aluminum brings to the cut.

02

Low Heat Input, Clean Edges

Controlled heat input keeps sheet metal aluminum parts flat and free of warping, with minimal dross and no secondary deburring in most cases.

03

Full Range in One Shop

From 22 gauge sheet to 3/4 inch plate, our capacity covers the range most fabrication and structural projects need without splitting an order across suppliers.

04

No Tooling Costs

Every part is cut straight from your DWG, DXF file. It keeps custom aluminum fabrication cost-effective even at low quantities.

Capabilities Using Aluminum Materials

We stock, cut, and process high-grade 5052 and 6061 aluminum alloy sheets and plates at our Brampton facility. Our team handles the specific thermal conductivity and reflective properties of raw aluminum to manufacture clean, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant components under one roof.

Laser Cutting

High-speed CNC fibre laser cutting optimized for non-ferrous metals from 22 gauge sheet to 3/4 inch aluminum plate. Our process manages heat input to prevent material warping while leaving crisp, burr-free edges.

Sheet Metal Bending

Precise press brake forming tailored to alloy strain and temper limits, preventing stress cracking on tight bend radii across formable alloys like 5052-H32 and structural 6061-T6.

Welding (MIG / TIG):

Specialized aluminum joinery. Precision TIG welding for clean, high-aesthetic, leak-tight joints on thin aluminum sheet, alongside high-speed MIG welding for heavy-duty structural frames.

3D Printing / 3D Scanning:

High-resolution 3D scanning to capture complex aluminum housings or reverse-engineer legacy automotive parts, paired with 3D print validation before launching full production cuts.

Common Questions About Steel Cutting

What alloys of aluminum do you cut?

We work primarily in 6061 and 5052, covering structural, formable, and marine-grade applications. Specialty alloys like 7075 can be sourced for specific projects on request.

Our range runs from 22 gauge sheets up to 3/4 inch plates.

6061 is heat-treated for higher strength and is well suited to structural parts, but it is less forgiving on tight bends. 5052 is strain-hardened, more formable, and holds up especially well in marine and outdoor environments.

No. We accept single-piece prototypes and full production runs alike, with no tooling costs standing in the way.

Is 6061 or 5052 considered aerospace grade?

Neither is the classic aerospace-grade alloy. That designation typically refers to 7075 or 2024, which we can source separately for projects that specifically call for them.

We can coordinate anodized aluminum finishing and other surface treatments alongside your cutting order.

Yes. Our aluminum welding and bending capabilities let parts move directly into the next stage under one quote.
